A culture of Caring

For 40 years, Villa Cathay has provided a warm and inviting residence for Chinese seniors in Vancouver, BC. But their building has received few updates since it first opened in 1978. This year, they launched a campaign to fund a new home.

Our goal for the case statement was to help readers feel concern at the state of the current facility, a connection to their cultural heritage, and immense pride in creating a home that will stand above the rest and be a model of public care in the Chinese community.

We did this through storytelling, emphasizing how residents flourish at Villa Cathay with the respect and appreciation shown to our Chinese elders.

We designed the piece to accommodate both English and Chinese text to speak to readers in their native languages.
